You can arrive by mainline train from across the UK to Liskeard and catch the Looe Valley Branch Line to Sandplace (our location) where we can collect you from the station. The 5 minute journey on the Looe Valley Branch Line from Sandplace into Looe offers a convenient and stress free way of travelling to Looe (and beyond) and it's a great way to see wildlife and birds as the train skirts the river bank just above the water line. Few country houses offer such convenient access to Looe without the need to use a car.

The rate is per person based on 2 persons sharing a standard double ensuite room and includes Full Breakfasts and 3 course evening dinners with coffee from the Shortbreak Dinner Menu which is varied and includes vegetarian dishes (sample menu). As all dishes are home cooked, we can generally cater for special dietary needs. These Shortbreak rates are available Mon-Sat with weekend extensions based on B&B only. Superior rooms are available at £10 per room per night supplement.

Polraen earns Green Acorn Award in February 2008
 Polraen has recently received a Green Acorn Award from the South East Cornwall Tourism Association.The SECTA Green Acorn Award Scheme, is a voluntary "green tourism" award scheme, which recognises the improvements made to reduce the impact of a tourism business, and that of our guests, on the environment. The scheme is to be included in the British Standard, BS 8900 Handbook on Sustainable Development, as an example of good practice in how sustainability can be integrated into the very fabric of an organisation. At Polraen, we are proud to have earned the use of this worthy logo.

Finalist in the last ' AA Landlady of the Year' Award
It was an unsolicited and unexpected accolade from the AA to be considered among the Top 20 Landladies in Britain during the AA inspections of 2006! We were nominated by their inspectors from 4,000 establishments across the UK in the AA Guest Accommodation Scheme, based on their mystery guest inspection visit, during which they assess 'dedication to the highest standards of guest care, comfort and hospitality!'

Although not strictly speaking, a 'pub', we were nominated by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership for our local involvement and support of the Looe Valley Line through events and promotions. We were flattered to receive a Certificate of Excellence for achieving 3rd place in the national Community Rail Awards 2006.
